Coffee Shops in Calaca City, Batangas: A Growing List

I don’t think there’s a wrong time for a good cup of coffee.

My day starts with a hot cup of black coffee, most of the time without sugar. There’s just something about its bold, strong flavor that makes it a good way to start the day. When the afternoon gets too warm, iced Americano is my go-to. And every now and then, I like heading to a café in the evening, ordering a hot latte or a smooth iced macchiato, and just chilling or catching up with my cousins.

I enjoy having a place where I can sit down with a book, write in my journal, or simply spend some time with my thoughts while enjoying coffee. Nothing fancy. Just a drink, a comfortable seat, and a little time for myself. Sometimes, I just need a change of scenery from work and household chores. A few minutes away from my usual surroundings can be a nice little reset.

That’s actually one of the things I love about Brewed Musings. It’s my little corner on the internet where I get to share the things I don’t always say out loud, stories from my everyday life, things I’m learning, or random thoughts that stay with me longer than expected. And since I enjoy spending time in cafés, I thought, why not share these little escapes here, too?

So, here’s a growing list of coffee shops I’ve visited in the City of Calaca, Batangas.

This isn’t a professional coffee review, and I’m definitely not claiming to know everything about coffee. I just want to share the places I’ve tried, a little about my experience, and whatever drinks or details I can remember. I’ll keep adding to this list whenever I visit somewhere new.

If you’re from Calaca or happen to be in the area, maybe you’ll find a place you’d like to try, too.

1. Boba Sip

Boba Sip was the first café that came to mind when I started putting this list together because it’s my go-to spot. It’s a cozy little café near Calaca City Hall, and their drinks and food are easy on the budget.

They have plenty of options to choose from, including coffee, milk tea, boba drinks, lattes, and their Ice Blended series. If you’re feeling hungry, they also serve snacks and comfort food like fries, nachos, cheesesticks, sandwiches, burger, lasagna, and baked mac.

Right next door is Baked by K, where you can grab some pastries to pair with your drink. It’s a nice combo if you’re in the mood for something sweet.

  • Address: Rodriguez St., Poblacion 4, Calaca City, Batangas
  • Opening Hours: Monday to Sunday, 10:00 AM – 8:00 PM

2. Coffeesticated

Next up is coffeesticated! This was actually the first coffee shop I visited when we moved back to Calaca in 2023. It’s a cute little café set up in the front yard of the owner’s house, which gives it a homey feel.

I don’t get to visit as often as I’d like, though, because it’s a bit far from where we live. Still, I remember it as my first café stop after moving back to Calaca, so it definitely deserves the second spot on this list.

They offer hot, iced coffee, ice-blended, etc. You can also request for a milk substitute like oat, almond, non-fat, or brevé. They also serve fries, pasta, sandwich, a few rice meals, churros, croffle, mozarella sticks, and pastries.

3. Jowen’s Kitchen & Café

If you’re looking for a café with plenty of space and a more laid-back, slightly secluded feel, Jowen’s Kitchen & Café is worth checking out. Although it’s a bit far from our place, I’ve been here several times with my son for our little dates. But I especially enjoy coming here for group gatherings because there’s plenty of space for everyone.

I’ve considered this place for CAYA or church group meetups, family lunches, and afternoon snacks because there’s plenty of room for everyone. They have seating inside the café, but the outdoor al fresco area is even more spacious, with trees surrounding the place. It’s a nice setting when you want to enjoy your food and spend time talking without feeling too cramped.

Jowen’s offer hot and iced coffee, ice-blended frappe, non-coffee, soda, and other beverages. They also have rice meals, pasta, sandwich, and your finger food, like fries, baked nachos (my fave there), crab rangoon, quesadilla, and nuggets.

They also have live band performances on weekend evenings, which makes the place even more appealing if you’re planning to hang out with friends or family after a busy week.

Jowen’s is a good option when the plan involves more people, good conversations, and a little time to relax together.

  • Address: Pantay, Cawong, Calaca, Batangas
  • Opening Hours: Monday to Friday – 2:30pm to 9:30pm, Saturday & Sunday- 11am to 10pm

4. Kape’t Balay

Another café I’ve tried is Kape’t Balay, owned by a teacher and famous vlogger from Calaca. It opened just last year, and I’ve seen how much it has grown since then. I visited a few times when it was still new, but as it became more popular, getting a seat now has been bit of a challenge. My last visit was probably sometime in the first quarter of this year, so I’m curious to see how things are now.

They’ve since expanded the shop to accommodate more customers, which is good news for those of us who want to drop by without worrying too much about finding a seat. They also accept bookings for celebrations and gatherings for up to 70 people, making it an option for birthdays, special occasions, and intimate get-togethers.

It’s nice to see a local café grow like this in Calaca. Hopefully, I’ll get to visit again soon.

Aside from their coffee selection, they also offer rice meals, pasta, nachos, fries, sandwich, cheesecake, bread, and cookies.
